Casa Nereta: From Costa Bravian Artist Studio to a Boutique Hotel in Cadaqués

Nestled along the exquisite coastline of Spain's Costa Brava, Cadaqués beckons with an enduring allure and mesmerising beauty that transcends time. This beguiling fishing village, transformed into an artistic sanctuary, exudes a singular charm that has ensnared the hearts of artists, writers, and wanderers for generations. Gracefully cascading down steep hills, the ivory-hued buildings converge with the cerulean waters, forming a flawless tableau that captures the essence of this coastal paradise. Beyond this captivating panorama, the charming alleyways, vibrant art scene, and warm hospitality intertwine seamlessly to fashion an inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal sanctuary for those in search of serenity and creative inspiration. Whether one leisurely wanders along its delightful streets, uncovers concealed coastal gems, or contemplates the unique connection with the Casa-Museum Dalí, Cadaqués offers an unforgettable journey where time seems to dissolve, revealing the vibrant tapestry of Costa Brava's resplendence.

A Mediterranean Oasis of Artistry, Hospitality, and Nostalgia

Casa Nereta emerges as a resplendent Mediterranean haven, boasting twelve beautiful rooms that evoke the nostalgic reverie of a sun-drenched narrative plucked from the pages of a 90s vacation novella. Constructed in 1952, it once served as the personal abode and artistic retreat of Spanish artist Joan Ponç. Today, it's still held closely by the same family, owned by Romy and her son James. What was erstwhile a family domicile has metamorphosed into a trendy unique boutique hotel, exuding warmth and charm, a place where one is instantly embraced by a sense of belonging. James, a true artist at heart, not only bears the mantle of co-proprietorship but has also infused his artistry into Bistro Nereta, an intimate culinary sanctuary. Every facet of Casa Nereta is imbued with thoughtful consideration, yet maintains an air of relaxed nonchalance, cocooning guests in an ambiance that evokes the essence of simple luxuriance. As a tribute to its antecedent luminary, the coffee enclave within the central salon houses an array of tomes celebrating the captivating oeuvre of Joan Ponç, alongside an eclectic collection including our personal favourite, "Flechazo" by Pia Riverola.

Comforts and Coastal Elegance

This hotel features a collection of double rooms, suites, terrace sanctuaries, and the crowning jewel of Casa Nereta, the Nereta Penthouse, perched atop, offering a panoramic embrace of Cadaqués. Even the double rooms, though more compact, boast resplendent interiors adorned with seashells, straw beach bags, sun hats, and other details that remind us of the sea. The beds, generously sized with an imperative comfort, provide the perfect cocoon for a revitalising morning. The bathroom, adorned in hues reminiscent of delicate lavender blooms, is a haven of beauty, replete with plant-based, vegan products from the esteemed midnight apothecary "00.00," alongside a jasmine-infused Marvis toothpaste, an Italian indulgence cherished by many. A mini-bar with snacks like seaweed-kissed crisps, truffle-infused chips, and delicious natural wines. Further enhancing the appeal of this haven is its swift and dependable internet, an indispensable asset for those prolonging their stay. While the room's aesthetics exude simplicity, the embrace is undeniably cozy, meticulously curated to accommodate every essential indulgence.

Bistro Nereta

While the hotel has a laid back atmosphere, sometimes almost feeling like this is your very own house without anyone around, the restaurant flavours says otherwise. Imagined by James himself, he has created a unique stunning and flavourful menu mixing Peruvian-Japanese infusion. From what looks like a simple tomato salad, you will discover new and unique flavours while you are eating it. As the kitchen is still involving and leaving room for self-exploration, James has opted for a menu that keeps changing. With that, it allows oneself to come back over and over again to the same restaurant and discover new tastes on a regular basis. And on top of having plates after plates tasteful after the other, the presentation also never fail to disappoint. The kitchen offers only the freshest ingredients being the same rule for their delicious breakfast menu.

While Casa Nereta seems like a laid back place at first, you will discover through your stay its attention to details and importance for always having the best quality. To its sustainable bathroom products, its natural wine selection, amazing delicious homemade breakfast and delicious culinary experience at Bistro Nereta, Casa Nereta has been experiencing and reinventing itself in the best way possible. Being a family run hotel, it still has this warm feeling we often love when on vacation. The main salon, where you can find yourself working on the large table and simply going through their amazing book collection while sipping on a delicious coffee, will probably become your favourite area in the hotel. And when golden hour hits, you will notice the stunning light going through this room making it the perfect afternoon break after a long day at the beach.
